Abstract
Levelling the Curve of Spee: Efficiency and Predictability of the Straight Wire Technique
Levelling the curve of Spee is a workflow phase used in the Straight Wire technique for the treatment of different types of malocclusions.
In particular, levelling the curve of Spee is required to increase the efficiency and predictability of the treatment outcome in malocclusions characterized by the following objectives:
• deep bite correction through prevalent lateral-posterior levelling
• Class II correction through prevalent mandibular repositioning
• correction of malocclusions that also require a post-extraction space closure.
Based on these considerations, the communication objective is to highlight the importance of the base set-up integration (archwire-bracket) with phase auxiliaries to increase not only the effectiveness but also the efficiency and predictability in levelling the curve of Spee with Straight Wire technique.
The objective of the communication will be treated with the presentation of clinical cases representative of the three macro areas and supported by bibliographic references.
